When i select a tool in microstation powerdraft it won't stay on the screen, when i move the mouse away the tool selection vanishes.

Not too much of a problem, you'll be pleased to know. This will be due to Pop-up Settings being enabled and is intentional behaviour. PopSet was an enhancement brought in for MicroStation J which frees up screen space. You can bring the tools settings back up by using CTRL+Shift (which will bring it back up at your cursor ... nice!) or disable it by clicking on the Green Traffic light icon, turning it Red.
