Subject: AutoCAD Plot styles R14 to 2002

Question
From: Jason Fuller Submitted: 10 Jul 2002
When I open Acad drgs that were previously R14 in 2002 they will only plot in colour or thin lines due to the PLOT STYLE. This is greyed out in 2002 drgs. Is there a way to turn this plot style off or change a setting so that it plots in black with line weights

Release 14 used the element colour for plotting. In 2000, the concept of Plot Styles was introduced, allowing either the old colour based plotting or "named" plot styles - i.e. on an element by element basis. By default, an r14 file opened in 2002 will remain colour dependant, resulting in the Plot Style column of the Layer Manager being disabled. To plot as r14, you need to make sure that the correct Plot Style Table is attached when plotting. If you have been sent the drawing by someone outside of your company, you will need to ask the sender for their PCP or PC2 files which you can convert to a CTB (colour-based) Plot Style Table using Plot Style Wizard.

If you'd rather have the file using named Plot Styles, use the CONVERTPSTYLES command.
