Bentley Systems Ltd, as part of its development of Triforma V8, sought to incorporate a series of intuitive 3D object libraries. To do this in an open, extensible and reusable way, the definitions needed to utilise classification standards. Initially implementing the UK industry-standard CISFB system of classification, a trial series of libraries, or ‘data-sets’, were adopted as part of the-e-shop’s contribution to the award-winning Teamwork 2000 initiative. This work was then refined based upon practical feedback, and widened to address global systems such as the CIS.
